1. who we are and what this covers

These terms are an agreement between you and Nyedis ("Nyedis", "we", "us"), the operator of Carnivore and of its community service: accounts, comments, reviews, reports and the catalog of skills, themes and plugins that the Carnivore app talks to. Using the community service means you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not register.

The Carnivore app itself runs on your own Mac. These terms cover the community service and this website, not what runs on your machine.

2. who may use it

You must be 16 years old or older. When you register you confirm that you are. If you are younger, do not register, and if we learn that an account belongs to someone under 16 we will delete it.

3. your account

• You sign in with an email address or a GitHub login. Registering also needs a handle, which is the public name shown next to what you post.
• Keep your sign-in safe. What happens under your account is your responsibility until you tell us it was taken.
• Give us true information. Do not pick a handle that impersonates another person or project, or that is confusingly close to another user's handle.
• You can delete your account and export your data at any time from inside the app.

4. what you post and the licence you give us

You may post comments, reviews and reports, fill in a profile (bio and links), and submit skills, themes and plugins. You keep ownership of what you post. You give Nyedis a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, display and distribute it as needed to run the community service, including showing it to other users and, for a submission, making it available to users of the catalog. For a published submission this licence continues after you delete your account, so the catalog can keep offering it; for everything else it ends once the content is removed.

You promise that you have the right to post what you post and that it follows the content policy. Do not post anything you do not have the right to share.

5. moderation

Comments post instantly, before anyone reviews them. Moderators may hide or remove any content, and may limit or suspend an account, that breaks these terms or the content policy or that puts other users at risk. We do not promise to review everything, and a comment being visible does not mean we approved it.

Anyone can report content. The reasons are listed in the content policy.

6. submissions and third-party software

Skills, themes and plugins in the catalog are written by their authors, not by Nyedis. You decide what to install and run on your own machine. Read what you install and use your own judgement.

7. privacy

How we handle your data is described in the privacy policy. We show no ads and we do not sell your data.

8. ending your account

You may delete your account in the app at any time. We may suspend or remove an account that breaks these terms or the content policy. When you delete your account, your profile, ratings, reviews and signed-in devices are removed and your comments are deleted (a comment with replies stays as an empty placeholder). Published catalog items stay in the catalog under your handle, marked as deleted. Reports you filed and the moderation audit log are kept.

9. no warranty

The community service and this website are provided as they are and as available, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We do not guarantee that the service will always be available or free of errors.

10. limit of liability

To the extent the law allows, Nyedis is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for loss of data or profit, arising from your use of the community service.

11. governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict of laws rules.

12. changes to these terms

Each version of these terms lives at its own address and never changes after it is published. When we publish a new version, the app asks you to accept it before you can post again. The version on this page is 2026-10-01.
